Hi Kids~

Oscar here. Living the life of a Top Secret Missionary Tour Guide can be very busy! But I always find time to read a good book. Like this one I just finished. It’s called "Eric Liddell; Something Greater Than Gold."

Eric Liddell grew up in China with his missionary family. When the Liddell's took a vacation to Scotland, where they were from, Eric's parents, James and Mary decided it was time for little Eric and his older brother Robert to stay in England and go to school. Eric was sad he wasn't going back to China with his parents but he soon found that life at school was fun.

He was good at everything, especially running. There were lots of sports to try out and Eric and Robert were the best at all of them! Soon the time came when the Olympic Games were going to happen. Eric decided to join and after being in them he won a bronze medal and a gold medal in the 200 and 400 meter races. He was by far the best runner. Eric used his fame as a runner to reach people with the gospel. And after the Olympics were over he felt that God had called him to be a missionary back in China were he had lived as a young boy.

So he left for China to teach science and lead sports at a college in Tientsin. But Eric's story doesn't end there. He was a great man who touched many lives and did many great things for God. Even in the midst of war!

I loved reading about Eric Liddell and I think you will too. Well, I have to run. :) Until next time,
~Oscar
