Hi Guys~
Oscar again. Finding time for a break is tough when you work as hard as I do as your Top Secret Missionary Tour Guide. But I'm sure glad I can rest, relax and read of course. This time I sat down with a book about a missionary called Amy Carmichael: Rescuer of Precious Gems. Her story is so incredible I just had to tell you about it.

Amy was a person who always loved to help people and even animals too. (One of the reasons I like her.) No matter what people around her thought she always did what she could for the poor around her. While living in Ireland she started working with poor women and children known as 'shawlies.' After about 2 years of working with the shawlies Amy felt she should go to England and work in a women's rescue home. There she headed up Bible studies and prayer meetings that many of the shawlies went to. But she soon got sick and had to go to a friends house for rest. It was then that she felt the call to go to China. She packed her things and was ready to go but her doctor told her she was too sick. So, she waited. But not for long.

Four months later, she felt God was calling her to go to Japan. Again, she packed her things and was ready and headed off for Japan. It wasn't too long after that she began to get sick again. So, she went, this time, to Ceylon, Columbo for healing. There she got another letter that sent her back to her friends house. After a while, she got word of a nurse friend working in India. Amy was very interested and after praying about it was on her way to the last place on earth she would ever live. And that's where her story really begins.

This book was so good I couldn't put it down. Even for a doggie bone. With wild ship rides and daring rescues I give this book 4 paws!
