Hey Guys! It's me Oscar. I've just recently had a chance to relax from the busy life I spend out in the field as your Top Secret Missionary Tour Guide. While on this little vacation I got a chance to do one of my favorite things, read! I picked up a great book I'd like to share with you from the series 'Christian Heroes: Then and Now.' It's called 'Nate Saint: On a Wing and a Prayer.'
Nate Saint was a missionary who loved planes. When he was a little boy his older brother, who was a pilot, had taken Nate for a ride in his plane. Nate loved flying through the skies and from that point on he knew he wanted to be a pilot just like his brother. So, when Nate was old enough he joined the Army and was accepted into a training camp to become a pilot. Not only did Nate learn how to fly planes, he also knew how to fix them if something ever went wrong with them. Later he heard about a missionary organization whose job was to fly supplies to missionaries in hard to reach places of the world.
When Nate was discharged from the Army he was contacted by this same organization, called M.A.F; to help fix a plane that had crash landed in the Mexican jungle. He agreed to help and after fixing the plane, was stationed as a pilot missionary in Ecuador. While he was there, Nate invented many safety features for the planes that were used in the ministry. As a result, many lives were saved.
Before long, news of an Indian tribe called the Aucas reached Nate and he knew that God was calling him to be a part of sharing the Gospel with them. That's where Nate's adventures really began. But I don't want to spoil the end for you. If you are like me and like planes or just like reading about a good missionary adventure this is the book for you to read. I give it 4 paws!
Well, It's time for me to be headed off again. See ya soon! ~Oscar |
